Yamaha’s held an event called Ah A May (“Yamaha” spelled backwards) where some of their musical instrument designers created a concept motorcycle called Root.
As Yamaha describes it, “The form was created to flow from the seat to the fuel tank and was inspired by a horse motif that aims to give a sense of unity among people, nature, and the vehicle.”
All that flow doesn’t leave any room for instrumentation (get it?), so the designers moved the tachometer to a companion smart watch.
And while the musical instrument designers were working on bikes, Yamaha’s motorcycle designers were let loose designing musical instruments. Check out the Raijin (“God of Thunder”) drum kit.
